Caring for your candles.
To ensure that you get the best from your candle, please consider the following:
- When you light your soy candle for the first time allow the wax to burn across the entire surface to the edges of the jar. This will assist in preventing tunneling & help promote an even burn for the duration of the candle’s life.
- The first burn of your candle is the most important as it establishes the burn memory of your candle.
- Always allow the wax to melt across the entire surface to the edges of the glass (but for a maximum of four hours at a time). Burning for less time can cause the candle to 'tunnel', which leaves a build-up of wax around the jars sides and can reduce the maximum burn time.
- Keep the wick clean and trimmed to 5mm every time you light your candle. This is important as it prevents an uneven burn and tunnelling, thus prolonging the life of your candle.
- Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings and matches as debris in the wax can act as a secondary wick, encouraging your candle to burn faster.
- Avoid placing your candle in draughty areas, which can cause rapid and uneven burning as well as black marks on the glass.
- The generous percentage of fragrance oil may cause slight discolouration and small air bubbles, especially with surrounding temperature changes. This does not affect the candle’s bouquet or lifespan.
- For safety, never leave a candle unattended. Always protect the surface on which your candle sits. Please keep out of reach of children and pets.
Lastly, never burn your candle down to the base - extinguish the flame when there is at least 5mm of wax at the bottom. This will be the time to order yourself a Chapters Refill Candle to pop back into the cleaned jar, no reason to find a way to repurpose your perfect Chapters jar!
